This interesting area near Duluth was my first climbing foray outside of the Minneapolis area - if you count the Red Wing (often rotten dolomite) and Taylor's Falls (super clean basalt) as Twin Cities climbing areas. It features brittle sharp rhyolite and a number of "Sea Stack" type climbs, where the adventurous rap to the base of the climb at a perch just above the water, pull the ropes and lead out. Failure means a swim home.
